Spicy Peanut Dip

This dip is an absolute favourite in my family, and my mother has been making it for Christmas for as long as I can remember. It is so incredibly moreish that I had to practise considerable self-restraint (for an 8 year old) to stop myself from eating the whole bowl. Serve it with chopped vegetables (cucumber, carrot, pepper and celery all work really well) or crisps as nibbles before your Christmas dinner and it will go down a treat!

NB This recipe needs a blender or a food processor

Spicy Peanut Dip

2 rounded tablespoons peanut butter

8 tablespoons yoghurt

75g (3 oz) cheese, grated

2-3 cloves of garlic, according to taste

1 tsp. salt

A pinch of chilli powder

2-3 teaspoons curry powder

A little lemon juice

(1) Crush the garlic by pressing down on it with the blade of a knife. Chop it up finely, and mix it with the salt.

(2) Blend all the ingredients to a nice consistency. Taste your dip and add more lemon juice/chilli powder/curry powder etc. as necessary. It should be thick but don’t worry if it’s on the thin side as it will set a little in the fridge!
