Spiced Hot Chocolate

It’s raining, winter is looming, essay deadlines are approaching…why not indulge a little? This is such an easy, simple recipe, and can be adapted very easily for your tastes. All you need is some form of chocolate, some milk and extra flavourings if so desired. You could try it with white chocolate, or perhaps with your favourite chocolate bar; why not try making peanut butter hot chocolate, or chilli, or salted? The possibilities are endless!

30-50g chocolate, according to tastes (1/3-1/2 bar of Sainsbury’s Basics/Tesco value dark chocolate, which produces a surprisingly luxuriant hot chocolate)

A mug of milk

1/2 – 1 tsp. spices (cinnamon, mixed spice, nutmeg and cloves all work well), to taste, or whatever extra flavouring you fancy šŸ™‚

(1) Melt the chocolate with a small amount of the milk over a very low heat to ensure the chocolate doesn’t burn, until it is melted into a thick chocolate mixture

(2) Add your spices, or whatever flavourings you’re using, and stir until smooth

(3) Add the rest of the milk gradually and heat until nice and hot.

(4) Enjoy the comforting deliciousness of your hot chocolate!
